Abstract Expressionism is a form of art in which artists express themselves purely through the use of form and color. It is a form of non-representational, or non-objective, art, which means that concrete objects do not have to be represented. Themovement can be broadly divided into two groups: Action Painting, typified by artists such as Pollock, de Kooning, Franz Kline, andPhilip Guston, put the focus on the physical action involved inpainting; Color Field Painting, practiced by Mark Rothko and KennethNoland, among others, was primarily concerned with exploring the effectof pure color on a canvas. Our pieces combine both aspects of the Abstract Expressionismmovement and are created on a sculpted-gesso under layer. We then usemultiple layers of oil glazes, opaques, metallics and JacquardPearl-Ex. The combined effect creates texture that traps and refractslight to make the paintings glimmer as the ambient light changesthroughout the day. We hope you enjoy the trip! |
